3d Printers talk about a cool new item for the house

Have you every thought about inventing somthing? Had an idea for your car? Your phone? Cool new accessory or gadget? Then thought if only I could have one to show someone I would make millions! Well I don't promise you will make millions but you could now actually do it! Granted 3d printers are not yet a household item but the cool factor is pretty high. Here are a few companies that are make them.

• Z Corporation - $39 K color prototype
• Desktop Factory $4995K not release yet

The basic idea is you create a CAD drawing and print to the printer. It lays down a layer of platic to build the model. You can watch a video at Z corporation's website to see it in action.

When I saw this thing I was thinking I could create a really cool business off of personalized action figures! Take a 2d image of someone and create a 3d image of them and then print them out and give it to them as a gift. Only issue is I think it would be either really creepy to get from someone or very egotisical to get it yourself.

Lost Planet! Check solar system's lost and found near earth!

Lost a planet today! This would have been a much better headline. Sounds more like a Hollywood movie title. Just makes me think of the new generation being born today! In 18 years we can hear the phase..."The new college freshman class has grown up with only 8 planets in the solar system!" I heard one of these quotes this morning on the radio about the new freshman class had never been alive during the cold war or when the soviet union was in existence.
